The Facts
Mental health is an often stigmatized topic in our society. However, approximately 44 million adults per year are affected by mental health illnesses in the United States. 1 in 5 Americans experience some sort of mental health illness per year. Furthermore, nearly 26% of homeless individuals live with serious mental health illnesses, and 24% of state prisoners have been reported to have had a serious mental health illness in the previous year.
Furthermore, nearly 60% of adults suffering from mental health illnesses do not receive proper treatment and help. The consequences of this include over $193 Billion in loss of earnings per year as well as premature death by nearly 25 years of those suffering from treatable mental health illnesses.

How You Can Help
The Second Run and Walk for Mental Health Awareness took place on Sunday, May 7th at 9 AM. The hope was to not only raise awareness about the stigma behind mental health illnesses, but seek to make an impacting in lowering the disparity of treatment as well. Thats why we will be donating money raised to the Helen Ross McNabb Center, an organization that provides behavioral health services to the underserved.
